Bold Christian University was founded in 1983 by Dr. Ludwig Otto in Texas, USA. Today, it is the oldest fully-online university in the world.

Dr. Otto served as Senior Pastor at five churches in North Texas and was an entrepreneur, publisher and author. He served as President of Bold Christian University from its founding in 1983 to his death in 2023. We are grateful for his 40 years of service to Christian evangelism education.

BCU went fully-online in 2009. Bold Christian University is the oldest institution still operating today whose degree programs are all delivered entirely online, with no residency or in-person requirement for any of our degrees.
